Does the NFC chip need a battery or an app?
No to both. The chip is passive — it's powered by the phone's own NFC field during the tap, exactly like a contactless card. Reading it works natively on iPhone (XS and later) and any NFC-enabled Android. Writing your link takes one free, standard NFC tool or our web setup page.
What can I share with a tap?
Any URL: LinkedIn, Instagram, a vCard contact file, your portfolio, a calendar link, a payment link. You can rewrite it whenever you like, or lock it permanently if you prefer.
How does it actually stay on? Will it slip?
The loop goes over your head, or opens via magnets hidden in the cord ends. The clasp grips the double cord with an internal friction channel — it slides when you push it and stays put when you don't. It held position through a full conference day in our wear tests.
Is it dress-code appropriate?
Knotless reads as a modern tie: a black blade, a metal detail, a clean vertical line. It belongs anywhere "smart" or "business casual" applies, and most "formal" settings outside strict traditional dress codes. It photographs beautifully — which is often the real test.
Can I wash it?
The fabric edition is spot-clean; the blade detaches from the clasp so you can care for each separately. The steel wipes clean with a soft cloth. The leather edition prefers occasional balm, like any good leather.
When does the Kickstarter campaign ship?
We're finalizing the production prototype now. The campaign launches on Kickstarter at wearknotless.com — early backers get founder pricing, free engraving, and the first production run, targeted within six months of the campaign closing.
